Annual renewal for vets and registered veterinary practices ending soon

29 April 2024

The 2024/25 annual renewal for veterinary surgeons will be ending soon. The deadline for payment of the annual renewal fee was 1 April and any payments received after 30 April will incur an additional fee of £35.

If the fee is not received in full by 31 May, your name will be removed from the Register. Should you, at any point, need to restore your name to the Register then you will need to pay an additional restoration fee. It is illegal to practise in the UK whilst your name is not on the Register, any professional indemnity insurance may also be invalidated, and you will no longer be able to use the post nominals MRCVS.

In addition to this, if you are a practice owner or manager, the fee for remaining on the Register of Veterinary Practice Premises was also due by 1 April 2024. You will have received a letter, at the beginning of March. So that you can continue operating as normal by supplying medicines, please ensure the fee has been paid.

If you have any questions or concerns about completing your annual renewal, please contact the Registration Department on 0207 202 0707 or [email protected].

If you are currently experiencing hardship, the charity Vetlife is available to offer financial support and advice, as well as mental health support.

Please note: on 2 February 2024 we also announced that the annual renewal process is set to include a 6% fee increase, subject to formal government approval.
