Voluntary removal and restoration for vets

Voluntary removal

If you are no longer practising as a veterinary surgeon in the UK and you do not wish to be a member of the RCVS and use the post nominals MRCVS, you can voluntarily remove your name online ‘My Account’. You will need to know your login details.

If you are voluntarily removed from the Register, you can apply to be restored to the Register at a later date.

Please note, if you have been off the RCVS Register for more than 12 months, you will also need to produce confirmation of your good standing. A certified translation of the certificate (or letter) will also be required if it is not issued in English.

Restoration following voluntary removal

If you have voluntarily removed your name from the Register, you can restore your name online by logging into ‘My Account’ and completing a restoration form online.

Your restoration form will need to be submitted with a copy of your valid passport or EU ID card, the restoration fee and the annual registration fee of the membership category you wish to restore to. Please visit our Fees page to view the fee payable.

If you have been off the RCVS Register for more than 12 months, you will be asked to arrange for a letter of good standing from your current registration authority to be sent directly to the RCVS. If you have not been practising, you will be required to make a sworn declaration, carried out by a solicitor. You will also need to submit a certified translation if the certificate (or letter) is not issued in English.

Restoration following non-payment of the annual registration fee

If your name has been removed from the Register for non-payment of the annual registration fee, you can restore your name online by logging into ‘My Account’ and completing a restoration form online.
