Biography

Alison Carr, VN Council memberA Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, Alison has a wide experience of working within professional bodies and regulators, most recently as a Director of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. She was previously Registrar and Chief Executive of the Architects Registration Board and has also worked with accountants, insolvency practitioners, insurance brokers and financial advisers. 

Alison’s background includes both small statutory bodies and large professional bodies, working in the operational side, involving complaints handling, monitoring and disciplinary tribunals as well as the development of both policy and strategy. She has developed new approaches to regulation and support for members in a number of professions and also worked to enhance co-operation amongst regulators, professional bodies and stakeholders, both in the UK and across Europe.
