Navigating change is inevitably challenging, but with this comes the opportunity to learn and grow. The modern world is constantly evolving and as such we are constantly having to learn to adapt.

Whether that be embracing the challenges of a new job, moving house, navigating the breakdown of a relationship, or letting go of the person you thought you once were, learning to navigate change effectively is a hugely important for personal development.

Join us for this campfire chat, as we discuss the best ways of letting go and learning to grow.

Remi Onabolu RVN

Remi has spent most of her time at the Royal Veterinary College as she qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2019 and is now a 3rd year Veterinary Medicine student at the same university. She has a keen interest in small animal emergency critical care and surgery but also wants to encourage interprofessionalism between vet and nursing students. Having been a student during the pandemic, she has had to adjust to online learning whilst balancing working part-time in clinical practice. Outside of university, Remi is busy working as part of the Vets: Stay, Go, Diversify team and planning educational talks as Vice-President of the Interprofessional Club at the RVC.

Diane James

Diane James is the manager of Blue Cross Pet Bereavement Support Service, the team that provides support for any type of animal loss, using free phone, email and webchat every day of the year. Having worked in human loss, after completing her post grad in counselling, Diane joined Blue Cross in 2014. She also worked as a senior HR manager for a number of years, prior to entering her vocation, bereavement support.

Diane and her team also train a number of animal organisations and charities in pet loss, using the award winning e-Learning course and face-to-face day course.

Diane has spoken at many conferences and appeared on national and local television and radio. Diane is also Co-chair of the Pet Loss Network, which holds a number of events throughout the year with and she is also a trustee of Helplines Partnership.

Dr Niall Connell MRCVS

Niall qualified from Glasgow Vet School in 1982 and spent just under two years in mixed practice in Fife. He joined PDSA in London for two years before transferring to Glasgow, working for PDSA in total for twenty five years. He was Senior Veterinary Surgeon at East Glasgow PDSA. Niall had to stop clinical practice in 2010 because he suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. He carries out ad hoc work at Glasgow Vet School with assessments and other teaching. He is an elected member of RCVS Council since 2013 and was RCVS President in 2019/20. He is currently Treasurer and Chair of the RCVS Diversity and Inclusion Group. He is married with three grown up children.
