Meet the PSS team

The PSS team manages all aspects of the Practice Standards Scheme and is the first point of contact for practices.

Our officers support member practices with any day-to-day admin related to the Scheme. This includes setting them up on Stanley, allocating assessors, tracking evidence, and issuing certificates.

The PSS team works alongside our team of PSS assessors.

Eleanor has also spent a number of years overseas, including over 10 years advising on inward investment and commercial projects in Asia and Egypt.

In July 2004 Eleanor joined the RCVS to bring the Practice Standards Scheme into being. She has looked after the development of the Scheme ever since.

She spent some time in private practice and then worked in the not-for-profit sector, focusing on general commercial matters, contracts, and advising staff, senior teams, and committees on all legal matters.

Amanda Radford - Practice Standards Officer

amanda radfordAmanda joined the Practice Standards Scheme as a Practice Standards Officer in November 2020. Like the other officers she is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Scheme.

Amanda graduated from De Montfort University with a BA (Hons) degree in Public Administration and became a Civil Servant with HM Land Registry. Following a change of direction, Amanda ventured into the world of the Private Sector and joined a Shipping Company only to realise she preferred to be in an industry that cared and joined the RCVS.

Amanda's aim is to promote higher, better standards of veterinary care through the Practice Standards Scheme, where she can help to assist practices to gain and maintain their accreditations.

Amanda has two rescue cats who she wouldn’t be without. Apart from her family, friends and her cats, her passion is football – particularly Tottenham Hotspur FC where she is a season ticket holder for her sins.

Charmaine Clarke - Practice Standards Officer

Charmaine joined the Practice Standards Scheme as a Practice Standards Officer in June 2023. Like the other officers she is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Scheme.

Charmaine is a qualified vet nurse (RVN) and graduated from Harper Adams in 2008. She has extensive experience in the veterinary field from all different aspects, ranging from nurse to practice manager and lecturer. She has a great love and passion for the profession and for the next generation of nurses.

Charmaine’s aim is to promote high standards in practice, inspire the next generation of nurses and highlight the great work the clinical staff are already doing by assisting the practices to gain and maintain their accreditation.

Charmaine has two rescue pets, a three-year-old old Mastiff x Rottie and a six month old Domestic Longhair. Outside of work, Charmaine is passionate about animal behaviour, especially in dogs. One of her dogs sadly suffers from PTSD following a traumatic event that happened before she rescued him. Because of this she spends her time finding techniques and training him to better manage his condition. She recently added a kitten (nicknamed the wild child) to the family, who acts as the dog's pet therapy cat.
