UK vets encouraged to respond to pan-European FVE survey

The Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE), the pan-European body representing veterinary organisations across the continent, is encouraging UK veterinary professionals to take part in its flagship survey on the state of the sector.

FVE, which counts both the RCVS and British Veterinary Association as members, runs the survey every 3-to-4 years to get a better under understanding of the European veterinary professions including in terms of working conditions, wellbeing, career trends and current challenges.

The survey, which will take around 10-15 minutes to complete, can be undertaken in one of 26 European languages, and is intended to give FVE insights into common issues affecting the professions across the continent, as well as any distinct national and regional differences.

Nancy De Briyne, FVE Executive Director, said: “With each edition, the FVE VetSurvey has become a powerful evidence base for the profession. The three previous survey reports – in 2015, 2018 and 2023 -  have provided invaluable insights.

“This is not only at the European level, but also nationally, allowing countries to compare their situation against others and helping FVE and its members to prioritise actions for a resilient, future-proof profession.

“To ensure robust, statistically meaningful results, we need strong participation from veterinarians in every country, including the UK. The more responses we receive, the stronger our data will be to engage with policymakers, institutions and stakeholders.”

The deadline for completing the 2026 survey is Saturday 28 February 2026.
