Biography

Alasdair qualified from Cambridge in 1990 and has focused on small animal surgery through his career.

He completed an internship and residency at Bristol vet school and then spent a short time in research in Aberdeen.

He returned to Bristol in 1997 and was subsequently Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Small Animal surgery.

He has post graduate qualifications in veterinary radiology, small animal cardiology, small animal surgery and medical education.

At Bristol he was also Programme Director of the veterinary nursing degree and led years 3-5 of the BVSc programme.

He moved into private referral practice in 2009 and was a clinical director and member of the Clinical Advisory Board within Independent Vetcare.

In 2018 he moved to lead a specialty hospital in Shanghai, China.

He received his Fellowship for Contributions to Clinical Practice in 2017 and is an Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery.

Alasdair has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals as well as in continuing education publications.

He has spoken about his discipline at national and international meetings in Europe, Asia and North America and has an excellent reputation as a teacher at all levels of the profession, in both formal and informal environments for undergraduates and post graduates.
