Dr Kathryn Elizabeth Peaty

Biography

Dr Kathryn Peaty Kathryn graduated from Glasgow University in 2009 and began her career in a progressive mixed practice in rural Dorset Initially she worked across farm, small animal and equine areas but in 2011 became almost entirely farm animal based with a particular interest in disease prevention. Kathryn is an Official Veterinarian, carrying out TB testing of cattle on a weekly basis. As part of her Official Veterinarian role, Kathryn also inspects animal by-products destined for export to both EU and non-EU countries, producing Export Health Certificates after ensuring they have met the relevant requirements.

In 2013 Kathryn was involved in DEFRA's TB consultation workshops concerning the strategy for achieving Officially Bovine Tuberculosis-Free Status in England and future policy, She went on to become an accredited TB Advisor and later in 2019 trained as a consultant for the TB Advisory Service (TBAS).

On occasion Kathryn has been asked to take on the role of expert witness for the Veterinary Council of Ireland. She hopes that this experience will prove useful as she takes up her role on the Disciplinary Committee.

Kathryn has a busy home life as well with her husband and three young children who also, fortunately, share her enthusiasm for their small flock of sheep, apiary, and horses.
