Workforce Ambitions Revisited webinar series continues

26 August 2025

On Wednesday 10 September, we're recommencing our Workforce Ambitions Revisited webinar series, igniting discussions around the first four ambitions of our Workforce Action Plan.

The Workforce Action Plan, published in 2022, outlines how we're addressing veterinary workforce challenges and how the wider sector can collaborate to make a difference. It highlights the role of culture change, career development and leadership in improving retention, attracting new talent, and supporting returners to the professions.

With the publication of our Workforce Modelling Report published in December 2024, we're revisiting the ambitions of the plan using new insights to discuss just how far the professions have come, assess the present condition of the veterinary workforce, and consider measures for mitigating any prospective issues. Within the webinars we will also share updates on projects or activities that have contributed to achieving progress against each area.

With four sessions having taken place throughout May and June this year - including an introductory session and discussions around ambitions five, six and seven - the autumn sessions will focus on the first four ambitions:

  • Ambition four: Welcoming a modern way of working - Wednesday 10 September, 11:45 - 13:00
  • Ambition three: Greater responsibility for veterinary nurses - Monday 15 September, 13:00 - 14:15
  • Ambition two: Confidence, culture and recognition - Friday 17 October, 11:45 - 13:00
  • Ambition one: Shape leaders at all levels - Friday 7 November, 11:45 - 13:00

Angharad BelcherRCVS Director for the Advancement of the Professions, Angharad Belcher (pictured), said: "We’re really pleased with how the first set of webinars went and received fantastic feedback from delegates. We’re looking forward to many more enriching discussions with members of the entire veterinary team this time around.

"We recognise that change cannot happen without collaboration – no one organisation can solve as complicated and multi-factorial an issue as the workforce challenge on their own. We hope to welcome you to these sessions to share your insights and contribute to the ongoing conversation around this important topic."

The interactive webinars last an hour and 15 minutes and offer ample opportunity for delegates to ask questions to panel members. Webinars are free to attend and count as CPD.

To sign up for a session and submit questions to the panels ahead of time, visit our dedicated Workforce Ambitions Revisited page. The page also includes copies of the Workforce Action Plan, the Workforce Modelling Report, as well as recordings of the four previous webinars and useful resources.
