Series of technical improvements made to RCVS VetGDP e-portfolio platform

12 August 2025

Significant updates have been made to our Veterinary Graduate Development Programme (VetGDP) e-portfolio platform improving its usability and functionality, based on feedback from its users.

The VetGDP provides structured, workplace-based support for new graduate veterinary surgeons – as well as overseas vets and those returning after a long career break – to help their clinical and professional development and adjust smoothly to life in practice.

The VetGDP e-portfolio platform allows those graduates and other recent registrants undertaking the programme to record and reflect upon their learning and development progress and set goals, as well as allowing their VetGDP Advisers (coaches in the workplace) to record feedback and review their progress.

The changes that have been made to the platform include:

  • Screen optimisation – the e-portfolio now has a better user experience for both desktop computers and mobile devices with easier navigation, clearer presentation of content and optimised performance for different screen sizes.
  • Voice recording facility – voice notes can now be used to log reflections on learning and development and for progress reviews with the VetGDP Adviser, making this process much more efficient.
  • Recording learning and experience carried out in the workplace via multiple entrustable professional activities (EPAs) – based on user feedback, a single activity can now be saved across multiple EPAs  saving time for the user
  • Relationship management - it’s now easier to update or amend your VetGDP Adviser details.

Linda Prescott-ClementsDr Linda Prescott-Clements (pictured), RCVS Director of Education, said: “Sincere thanks to all those new graduates, VetGDP Advisers and others who have provided us with feedback on the VetGDP e-portfolio over the past few years and whose ideas for improvements and fixes have been implemented with this latest update”.

“As with the professionals we regulate, we are dedicated to continuous learning, development and improvement, and so we always appreciate feedback on how our systems can be improved, made easier to use and better suit the needs of the professions.”
