Making CPD count at the London Vet Show

Rebecca Lindon RVN from Hertfordshire, was the lucky winner of the RCVS competition at the London Vet Show 2012.

Rebecca visited the RCVS stand at the show (15-16 November at Olympia) and correctly answered three questions about record makers, and breakers, to win a £50 iTunes voucher.

Visitors to the stand were able to view a demo of the new RCVS Professional Development Record (PDR), the online tool that makes planning, recording and evaluating CDP much easier, and pick up a free calculator with a handy reminder of PDR's web addresses www.rcvs-pdr.org.uk or www.vnpdr.org.uk.

Rebecca commented: “I found the show really informative and exciting. Everyone at the RCVS stand was very helpful and friendly, and it was great to learn about the CPD card online and how to fill it in, making it easier to keep track of my CPD.”

Over 200 veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and other practice staff entered the competition, the answers for which are as follows:

1. Record-breaking racehorse Kauto Star retired in October. Out of 41 races, he won 23.
2. Veterinary surgeons and registered veterinary nurses are expected to complete and record an average of 35 hours and 15 hours, respectively, of continuing professional development per year.
3. A Norfolk Terrier from Dover was recently crowned ‘Westminster Dog of the Year’. The dog’s name was Star.
