HMRC seeks feedback on previous communications about employment status for locum vets

Following the distribution of a letter last year that provided guidance to veterinary practices on making sure that they are correctly categorising the employment status of locum veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses, HMRC is now asking for feedback on its communications.

For the survey, HMRC is seeking the feedback of those responsible for employment status decisions in veterinary practices in order to help improve future communications. The survey takes around 5-to-10 minutes to complete, and has a deadline of Friday 6 February 2026.

A copy of the letter sent last year is available to view for reference.

Participation in the survey is voluntary, and responses are anonymous and stored in line with GDPR and the Market Research Society Code of Conduct.

No information will be passed to the RCVS which has no involvement in the survey, other than agreeing to help HMRC with its communications.
