51 veterinary surgeons welcomed to the ranks of the RCVS Fellowship
23 July 2025
The RCVS Fellowship has welcomed 51 veterinary surgeons to its Fellowship, our body which exists to advance veterinary standards by providing a resource of independent knowledge for the benefit of the veterinary profession.
Of the 51 new RCVS Fellows, 31 were welcomed to the Fellowship for meritorious contributions to clinical practice, 18 for meritorious contributions to the profession, and two for meritorious contributions to veterinary knowledge. A full list of the new Fellows is available to download.
The Fellows will be formally welcomed to the learned society at this year’s Fellowship Day which takes place on Thursday, 27 November 2025 at One Great George Street, Westminster.
Speaking of the new intake of Fellows, Dr Niall Connell FRCVS (pictured), Chair of the RCVS Fellowship Board which is responsible for governing the body and setting its strategic direction, said: “It is great to see the Fellowship once again welcoming such a broad and diverse range of veterinary talent and excellence to its ranks.
“Amongst those being welcomed this year we have veterinary surgeons who are best known as clinicians or academics or researchers or campaigners or business leaders or public servants. However, what unites them all is a dedication to the advancement of the veterinary profession and the contribution that it can make to animal health and welfare, public health and society as a whole.
“I am really looking forward to meeting all of our new Fellows later this year, and finding out more about their work at what promises to be another great opportunity to celebrate the RCVS Fellowship.”
Fellowship Day is an annual event that gives current and new Fellows, as well as those who may be interested in joining the Fellowship, an opportunity to network and exchange ideas.
As with previous years the Fellowship is calling on undergraduate vet students and recent graduates (graduating no earlier than 2024) to participate in its Fellows of the Future competition, giving them the opportunity to present their original research at Fellowship Day 2025.
Presentations should be no longer than five minutes and will be delivered at Fellowship Day before a judging panel, who will decide the overall winner of the competition.
Those who are interested in presenting their research in November should complete the entry form by providing a title and summary of their research (500 words max) in a Microsoft Word document or as a PDF. Entrants may also include up to two illustrations or diagrams.
Eligible overseas students from RCVS accredited institutions are also welcome to enter. All eligible universities and courses are listed on the RCVS registration page. The deadline for submissions is 4pm on Wednesday 1 October 2025.
