Coming soon: 1CPD app update will make it easier to record CPD
28 November 2025
This week (1-5 December 2025), the RCVS will be releasing an updated version of the 1CPD mobile app, with enhancements to make it even easier for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to view, record and reflect on their continuing professional development (CPD).
CPD is a professional requirement for all those on the RCVS Register, with vets needing to record 35 hours of CPD per calendar year, and vet nurses required to record 15 hours per calendar year, as well as reflect on their learning.
A wide range of activities can count towards CPD, including workplace-based learning such as case discussions, reflecting on challenging cases, or shadowing a colleague. Self-directed learning like reading a book or listening to a podcast, or more formal activities such as courses and seminars can also serve as CPD.
Each activity needs to be recorded and reflected upon, using either the mobile app or the web version of 1CPD.
Mobile app improvements
The updated mobile app will provide a smoother user experience, with simpler navigation to help people quickly find what they’re looking for.
Other improvements include:
- A new ‘What would you like to do?’ shortcut on the home screen for frequent tasks
- A notification badge enabling users to quickly check any outstanding reflections
- The ability to scan a QR code from the home screen to more easily record an activity
The app is also now optimised for the latest iOS and Android systems, making it more compatible with user's devices, ensuring a better performance and experience.
How to download the app
Once the latest version has been published, users will be prompted to download it from the App Store or Google Play the next time they log into the mobile app.
The website app remains unaffected by these changes.
