RCVS Academy Update - June 2025
We were delighted to celebrate the RCVS Academy’s third Birthday in June. Since its launch to veterinary professionals three years ago with just six courses, the Academy now boasts 34 courses, which are all free to complete.
The Academy offers learning and development for veterinary professionals, helping them to meet professional standards and stay up to date with developments in the profession. It has been designed to make learning accessible and flexible with both shorter, bite-sized courses and longer, modular courses. All courses have been designed to be interactive and engaging with a range of activities, videos, scenarios and knowledge checks.
Academy courses are grouped into the following categories:
- Students and early career – courses to support student and newly qualified veterinary nurses and graduates completing VetGDP.
- Career support – courses to support both vets and nurses returning to the profession after a break, how to record and reflect on your CPD and working in the UK for overseas vets and veterinary nurses.
- Culture and wellbeing – courses to support veterinary workplace culture and team wellbeing including the RCVS Mind Matters Initiative.
- Leadership and coaching – courses for leaders or those who aspire to be, including topics such as mentorship, delegation and the VetGDP Adviser course.
- Client engagement – courses to support your relationship with clients, including communicating cost, confidentiality, informed consent and more.
- Supervisors, assessors and examiners – bespoke courses for veterinary professionals carrying out roles such as clinical supervisors, accreditation and quality monitoring, VetGDP peer r5eviewer and more.
To celebrate three years of supporting veterinary professionals, the Academy is holding a Summer Learning Festival, and you're invited!
Five free Academy Live sessions are running from July until September, covering topics such as VetGDP, supporting students, communicating costs to clients and more. The festival starts on 1 July with the session - 'Introduction to the RCVS Academy'. You can find full details and sign up for the Summer Learning Festival Academy Live sessions at the end of this article.
Birthdays aren’t complete without a gift and, this year, the Academy is giving away a Samsung tablet to one lucky veterinary professional. To enter:
- Complete three Academy courses between 20 June and 31 July
- Complete the entry form to tell us which courses you completed
- The winner will be contacted directly on 8 August
All Academy courses are free and count towards your annual RCVS CPD requirements. Access the RCVS Academy by using your MyAccount details at academy.rcvs.org.uk.
