Effective leadership involves recognising when mental health challenges arise and taking proactive steps to support and manage your team through these ups and downs.
This session will explore how to recognise the early warning signs of mental health challenges in employees and have confident, compassionate conversations about mental health and wellbeing with your teams. There will be opportunity for questions and discussion.

Veterinary professionals who are managers or leaders or those aspiring to be managers or leaders in the future.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
- Recognise early warning signs of mental health challenges in employees
- Identify the key elements of effective communication and apply them to support conversations with employees about mental health and wellbeing

Rapinder Newton, RCVS MMI Lead
Rapinder Newton joined the RCVS in January 2024 as MMI Lead. She brings with her experience of working with another regulator. Passionate about workplace wellbeing, Rapinder is dedicated to fostering healthy workplace cultures and driving positive organisational change. She champions evidence-led initiatives that support employee welfare, promote inclusivity, develop compassionate leaders and enhance organisational effectiveness
