Advanced Practitioner status

New applications for Advanced Practitioner status are currently being accepted. Applications can be made via My Account. The 2019 application window will close at the end of October.

For those due to re-apply in 2019, applications will be accepted from August and close at the end of October.

‘Advanced Practitioner’ is an official recognition of a veterinary surgeon’s particular knowledge and skills in a designated field of veterinary practice.

The List of RCVS Advanced Practitioners (on our Find a Vet website) provides a clear indication to the profession and the public of those veterinary surgeons who we have accredited at postgraduate certificate level (Masters level 7). Furthermore, not only have they demonstrated knowledge and experience in a particular area of veterinary practice beyond their initial primary veterinary degree, but they have also confirmed that they continue to be up to date in their field over and above our minimum requirements for continuing professional development (CPD).
