Let's Talk Adjustments
The RCVS, in partnership with the Mind Matters Initiative, has created the Let’s Talk Adjustments campaign to raise awareness of reasonable adjustments in veterinary workplaces.
The campaign empowers everyone, regardless of role, disability, or health condition, to have open and important conversations about the benefits workplace adjustments can bring, not just to individuals but to entire veterinary teams.

Why we're running this campaign
The Equality Act 2010 defines disability as a physical and/or mental health condition that has a substantial and long-term impact on a person’s ability to undertake normal daily activities. Reasonable adjustments are a requirement under the Act. They are changes that an employer must make in order to remove or reduce a disadvantage relating to an employee’s disability.
Our recent groundbreaking survey with the British Veterinary Chronic Illness Society, Disability and Chronic Illness in Veterinary Work and Education (2024), showed a pressing need to talk about disability and the provision of support through reasonable adjustments in veterinary workplaces.
Let’s Talk Adjustments celebrates inclusion and encourages open conversations about reasonable adjustments across all roles, disabilities and health conditions in veterinary workplaces.
Campaign aims
Let's Talk Adjustments aims to:
- Upskill managers to better support employees who need workplace adjustments.
- Link employees to information and support designed to help them obtain the adjustments they need.
- Provide organisations with resources and examples of good practice in implementing adjustments.*
