Biography

Zoe's career to date has combined clinical work in general practice, charity and university settings with mixed-methods research, mentoring and international outreach. She is a European and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine and Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She was awarded a PhD from the University of Nottingham in 2017 which explored welfare assessment in canine osteoarthritis, and was recipient of BSAVA’s Petsavers Award for Meritorious Contributions to the Profession in 2020.

Zoe has published over 50 peer reviewed papers on topics including canine and feline nasal tumours, canine exotic diseases, quality of life assessment, and caregiver burden for owners of pets with chronic disease. She has held veterinary committee roles for over 20 years of including membership of the BVA's Overseas Group, as Chair of WSAVA’s global Continuing Education Programme, and as a member of the RCVS Ethical Review Panel. She founded the Veterinary Record’s “What is your client thinking?” column and the led internationally adopted COVID-19 triage tool.

Currently, she juggles parenting, collaborative research, and research supervision as an independent consultant.
