Call for abstracts for International Postgraduate Veterinary Education Symposium
Next spring, we will be hosting the second International Postgraduate Veterinary Education (PGVE) Symposium, taking place at One Great George Street, London, on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 April 2027, with ticket sales going live today [29 October 2026], and abstract submissions opening on 1 November 2026.

Back by popular demand, following a highly successful inaugural event in November 2025, the event will bring together those with an interest in advancing postgraduate veterinary education and training, including educators, researchers, veterinary professionals, practice leaders and managers, and those from other relevant fields.
Those who would like to submit an abstract for the symposium, in order to showcase their own educational scholarship or research, can apply to present in three formats:
- A ten-minute presentation, followed by audience questions
- New ideas session – present new ideas in a concise five-minute slot, followed by audience discussion
- Poster presentation
The event is inviting abstracts covering four key topics:
- Graduate transition into the profession
- Advanced education and training
- Continuing education and professional development
- Licensure and revalidation
Dr Linda Prescott-Clements, RCVS Director of Education (pictured right), said: “Following the incredible success of our inaugural event in 2025, and consistent feedback about the value of hosting more events to share knowledge relating to PGVE, we look forward to seeing what emerges from the 2027 symposium. This is a forum for sharing ideas that can lead to improvements in postgraduate veterinary education and training. We therefore warmly invite those with expertise relevant to the four key themes to submit an abstract and contribute to the discussions.
“We look forward to growing this community further to deepen our understanding of best practice, from graduation through to postgraduate qualifications, internships, residencies and continuing professional development. This work can help us all improve the postgraduate experience for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses, while supporting greater engagement, satisfaction and professional development across the profession worldwide.”
Those interested in submitting an abstract for an oral presentation, new idea, or poster, can visit our International Postgraduate Veterinary Education Symposium 2027 page to download a form, or email [email protected] with any queries. The closing date for abstract submissions is 31 January 2027.
Further event information, including keynote speakers, programme details, and information for exhibitors will be announced on the PGVE event page in due course, with ticket sales going live today [29 October 2026], and abstract submissions opening on 1 November 2026.
The proceedings of the event will be published online. A report and videos from the 2025 symposium can be accessed on the RCVS’s ‘Exploring the future of veterinary postgraduate education: Inside the first International PGVE Symposium’ page.
