This month, we launched a new website section designed to support all those involved in extra-mural studies (EMS) - from the students themselves, to vet schools and placement providers.

EMS is the term used to describe the work placements students undertake during the course of their veterinary degree. It allows them to gain invaluable practical experience of working in veterinary medicine. Students must complete a set number of EMS weeks in order to graduate.

The new EMS resources are divided into ten subsections that provide detailed information about the purpose and different types of EMS, as well as an overview of the requirements for each.

While we have always offered EMS resources on our website, the new and improved EMS pages provide more targeted guidance and information in a range of accessible formats, such as video.
