Experienced veterinary surgeons sought for RCVS examiner roles

We are currently seeking additional examiners to support the delivery of the Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP) Synoptic Examination and are inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified veterinary professionals such as Advanced Practitioners and Specialists.

The role involves working alongside another examiner to produce three unseen cases and assess candidates undertaking the synoptic examination, helping to ensure a fair, consistent, and high-quality assessment experience. 

Most examinations are conducted online, although some in-person assessments are held at our offices in Hardwick Street, London and may require attendance on site, subject to candidate demand.

As a CertAVP Synoptic Examiner, you would be expected to:

  • Collaborate with an additional examiner to produce three unseen cases to present to the candidate;
     
  • Assess candidates against the provided rubric;
     
  • Participate in examiner training and standardisation activities as required;
     
  • Maintain the integrity and consistency of the assessment process;
     
  • Provide objective and professional assessment of candidate performance; and,
     
  • Complete marksheets and provide feedback for the candidates after the exam.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to postgraduate veterinary education, support the development of fellow professionals, and gain valuable experience within the assessment process.
