What is the day about?

Part of the RCVS Next Steps initiative, this event offers practical guidance, peer-to-peer learning, structured reflection, and professional coaching to support veterinary professionals transitioning into supervisory or managerial roles for the first time.

You’ll connect with RCVS teams, explore real-world challenges with colleagues across the professions, and take part in in-depth coaching sessions led by Dr Sarah Coope, an experienced executive coach and former GP with extensive expertise in leadership, communication, and wellbeing within clinical settings.

Coaching Session Learning Objectives: By the end of the session, delegates will be able to

Describe the three roles of the Drama Triangle 

and recognise how these patterns can arise within veterinary team settings, particularly in situations of high responsibility or pressure

Apply core coaching techniques

including open questioning, reflective listening and supporting accountability-to everyday conversations, demonstrating how a coaching approach can help reduce rescuing behaviours and empower colleagues

Analyse a current leadership or team scenario

to identify where Drama Triangle dynamics may be influencing their response, and evaluate practical steps that support healthier boundaries, reduce unnecessary stress and promote a collaborative, resilient team culture
