Angharad Belcher

Director for Advancement of the Professions

Biography

Angharad BelcherAngharad Belcher is the Director for Advancement of the Professions at the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), a role she has held since January 2021. In this position, she leads key projects aimed at benefiting the veterinary professions. Her portfolio includes Director of the Mind Matters Initiative, which focuses on mental health and wellbeing within the veterinary community, the RCVS Fellowship, and workstreams looking at workforce, sustainability, leadership, innovation and diversity and inclusion.

Advancement of the Professions is focussed on the Royal College, or upstream regulatory activities, aimed at ensuring pragmatic, evidence based and accessible resources and research are made available to support the professions. She is known for her dedication to sustainability and inclusion, and finding ways to bring different communities together. This all contributes to the overall RCVS Strategic Plan. She leads a team of professionals who have expertise across these areas and across different sectors.

Creating space for all stakeholders is an integral part of this delivery , and she is often at conferences and events or leading panel discussions and hosting sessions, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources, as well as understanding why the College is championing these topics and what support is available from the RCVS.

Currently the Workforce Action Plan is being looked at, to consider what has changed in the last two years since its publication, and she is also supporting the ‘Let’s talk adjustments’ campaign, and the launch of the new MMI Mental health guides.
