Find out the key dates in the specialist status application process.

Task/event	Timeline
The RCVS sends Advance Notice regarding renewal of Specialist status to those whose recognition is due to expire.	Summer 2026
Payment due for retention of name on the Specialist List.	31 March 2026
Reapplication for non-European Specialists due.	1st September to 30 November 2026 Those specialists who do not reapply will be removed from the next published Specialist List in April 2027
RCVS circulates completed reapplication forms to Members of the SSC for consideration and recommendation.	1 December 2026
SSC considers new applications and agrees recommendations to go to Education Committee	January 2026 April 2026 August 2026 October 2026
Education Committee considers SSC recommendations	February 2026 May 2026 September 2026 November 2026
Applicants advised of decision:	As soon as possible after application decision agreed by Education Committee
