Simon graduated from the University of Bristol in 2004 having previously undertaken an intercalated BSc in Veterinary Pathology at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC). He undertook a PhD in canine viral pathogenesis and residency in anatomic pathology at the RVC, has been a faculty member at RVC since 2011 and is currently Head of Pathology. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2011 and Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2012. He holds RCVS recognised specialist status and received Fellowship of the RCVS in 2022.
Simon has both clinical and research interests in infectious diseases, gastrointestinal pathology and experimental histopathology. He has published over 150 peer reviewed papers and abstracts on a variety of topics relating to veterinary and comparative pathology. He lectures nationally and internationally, and is involved in training pathology residents and veterinary undergraduates.
