Fellows of the Future Student Research Competition 2027
The RCVS Fellowship celebrates excellence and achievement across the veterinary professions, while also supporting and encouraging the development of the next generation. As part of this commitment, we’re inviting veterinary students to take part in our Fellows of the Future Student Research Competition 2027.
This is an opportunity to share your research, develop your presentation skills, meet members of the RCVS Fellowship, and be in with a chance of presenting your work at the Association of Veterinary Students (AVS) Congress on Saturday 6 February 2027.
How does the competition work?
Students are invited to submit an abstract outlining their original research. Following the submission deadline, entries will be reviewed by a judging panel, and three students will be shortlisted to present their research as part of a dedicated Fellows of the Future session at AVS Congress.
The session will also give shortlisted students the opportunity to speak directly with an RCVS Fellow – providing them with an opportunity to ask for advice and guidance to help support their future career development. The shortlisted students will present their research at AVS Congress, with final judging taking place at the event. The winner and runners-up will be announced at the evening event on Saturday 6 February 2027.
What are the prizes?
All three shortlisted students will receive:
- a free ticket to AVS Congress 2027,
- a free ticket to RCVS Fellowship Day,
- the opportunity to speak with an RCVS Fellow, and
- the opportunity to present their research at AVS Congress.
The overall winner will also receive a £200 National Book Token, with each runner-up receiving a £100 National Book Token.
Who can enter?
The competition is open to current veterinary students studying in the UK and recent graduates who completed their undergraduate veterinary degree in 2024 or 2025. As the three shortlisted entrants will be required to attend AVS Congress in person, and we are unfortunately unable to support the cost of international travel, entries are limited to those currently studying or recently graduated in the UK.
