SVNs and VN educators invited to shape mental health education in SVN training
Recruitment is currently open for a project into mental health and curriculum design for veterinary nurses.

Our RCVS Mind Matters Impact Grant recipients for 2025, Dr Faye Didymus and Dr Jackie Hargreaves from Leeds Beckett University, have launched the VET-MIND project, which has ambitious aims to design, deliver, and evaluate the impact of mentally healthy curricula for veterinary nurse tutors and students.
For the first phase of the project, they are looking to recruit student veterinary nurses (SVNs), veterinary nurse educators and any wellbeing co-ordinators/practitioners from both further education and higher education to help co-design a webinar about implementing mental health education into SVN courses.
The webinars will focus on upskilling tutors about mental health education and principles and aim to build confidence among those who attend. This was highlighted as a priority for future work in Jackie and Faye’s previous work with the Mind Matters Initiative.
Participants are being asked to attend two two-hour online workshops to share their ideas, experiences and thoughts about how to develop a training webinar for implementation of mental health into the SVN curriculum.
All participants will be provided with a £25 Love to Shop Voucher.
The first workshops will take place on either the 3 June from 6pm to 8pm or 4 June from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
