Our Mind Matters Initiative is inviting everyday veterinary leaders - both current and aspiring - to join us for our 'Managing Mental Health in the Workplace' CPD workshops, taking place online and in-person between March and April 2026.

Following the successful launch of the 'Managing Mental Health in the Workplace' CPD course on the RCVS Academy (co-authored with workplace wellbeing specialists Ultimate Resilience), our upcoming workshops aim to embed key concepts from the course by bringing them to life through discussion, self-reflection, and practical exercises. Sessions will be delivered by two of Ultimate Resilience’s clinical psychologists, Dr Felicity Baker and Dr Jackie Allt.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to describe the importance of a mentally healthy workplace, recognise early signs of stress, burnout and poor mental health, practice key communication and conversation skills, apply strategies to create psychologically safe and supportive team environments, and identify self-care and team wellbeing strategies.

Mind Matters Lead, Rapinder Newton (pictured), said: “We’re heartened by the positive reception that our 'Managing Mental Health in the Workplace' Academy course has received, and are therefore delighted to be bringing it to life in a live setting where we can reach wider audiences.

“We’re aware that currently only registered vets and vet nurses have access to the Academy and that some people prefer to consolidate their learning with others. These workshops provide an opportunity for other veterinary leaders to come together,  who might not otherwise get the chance to do so.”

It is hoped the workshops will reach managers and leaders in the veterinary sector keen to obtain skills and knowledge on how to support their colleagues and create workplace cultures where mental health is supported, resilience is built, and employees can thrive - even in challenging times.

Sessions will have a maximum of 16 participants and will be taking place from 10.00am to 3.30pm on the following dates:

  • Friday 20 March - online
  • Monday 20 April - online
  • Monday 11 May - online
  • Monday 18 May - online
  • Friday 19 June - in-person, RCVS offices, London

Online workshops are £120 per person and the in-person session is £150 (lunch and refreshments included).
