RCVS Academy launches new course to support witnesses in disciplinary hearings
The RCVS Academy, our free, online learning platform, has launched a ‘Disciplinary Committee Witness’ course to support veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses who are called to give evidence as witnesses at RCVS disciplinary hearings.
- Date Published:
When asked to give evidence in an RCVS Disciplinary Committee or Veterinary Nurse Disciplinary Committee hearing, it can feel unfamiliar or even worrying.
This digital, interactive short course includes a 360-degree walkthrough of the RCVS building, including the room where the hearings take place, taking the learner through the detail to support an understanding of the witness experience and provide reassurance about the process.
The course features content related to the role of a witness before, during and after evidence is given at a hearing, including important information about our disciplinary processes and what to expect on the day.
The course encourages you to assess your own needs as a witness and there are also signposts to sources of emotional and practical support, as well guidance on the etiquette of hearings and effective communication techniques. This course aims to help you feel prepared, informed and confident in participating as a witness.
The short course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. You can access the Disciplinary Committee Witness course within the ‘Career Support’ category on the RCVS Academy. Simply login to the Academy with your MyRCVS credentials to start learning.
