Biography

Chris qualified from Glasgow in 1999 aged 30. His first degree was in Agricultural and Environmental Science from Newcastle University. Chris worked in mixed practice in Herefordshire for a year doing mainly farm work. Sadly the need for six monthly TB tests thoroughly put Chris off farm work and he moved to an equine and small animal practice in West Berkshire after a year.

After a couple of years he moved to 100% equine practice for a couple of years in Dorset before returning to purchase Coach House Vets in 2005 which he has owned and run ever since.

Over the years he has made charity trips to Southern India, Mozambique and The Gambia to treat horses and cattle.

In 2009 he was elected to RCVS Council and was RCVS President in 2016/17. Whilst on Council he has chaired the Education Committee, served on the Operational Board for five years, chairing it for a year, led the Global Development and Innovation (ViVet) initiatives and chaired the Advancement of the Professions Committee. Chris’s practice trains RVC students and he is passionate about general practice and life-long learning.
