About the Fellowship

Launched in April 2016, the aim of the new Fellowship initiative is to advance and develop clinical and professional standards by providing a resource of independent knowledge for the benefit of the veterinary profession.

The criteria for achieving Fellowship include sustained contribution to scholarship; producing a body of creative work that has been disseminated to others; indisputable advancement of their subject; providing leadership to the profession; and, advancement of the public understanding of the profession.

Keynote speaker

Professor Matthew Baylis delivers his Fellowship Day 2025 presentation, with Dr Niall Connell FRCVS, Chair of the Fellowship Board, listening on.

This year, we are delighted to welcome Professor Sarah Cleaveland OBE FMedSchi FRS, Professor of Comparative Epidemiology, Institute of Biodiversity, Animal Health and Comparative Medicine, University of Glasgow.

She has received the Leeuwenhoek Medal and Lecture for her pioneering work towards the eradication of rabies throughout the world.

Sarah will be giving a talk titled, One Health: Pragmatic Actions for Better Health.

Workshops

Attendees can choose between two dynamic panel workshops, each offering a great opportunity to discuss crucial topics. Please note this is for veterinary professionals only and is recognised as CPD.

Workshop Session One: Should we be using animals in sport and entertainment in the 21st century?

Workshop Session Two: Do or Die? Treating inherited conformational disorders or tackling their causes?

When booking your place, please indicate which session you’d like to attend so we can ensure you’re seated in the appropriate room and provide any preparatory materials the panel may recommend. Space is limited, and sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to secure your spot early. Further details will be provided as the event approaches.

The above panels will begin in the morning.
