Find out the key dates in the specialist status application process.

Task/event	Timeline
Advance notice sent regarding renewal of specialist status to those whose recognition is due to expire.	Summer 2025
Retention payment due for listing:	1 July 2025
Reapplication due:	30th November 2025 – 31st March 2026 Those Specialists who do not reapply will be removed from the next published List of Specialists i.e. in April 2026
RCVS circulates completed reapplication forms to Members of the SSC for consideration and recommendation:	April 2026
SSC considers new applications and agrees recommendations to go to Education Committee:	January 2025 April 2025 August 2025 October 2025
Education Committee considers SSC recommendations	February 2025 May 2025 September 2025 November 2025
Applicants advised of decision:	As soon as possible after application decision agreed by Education Committee
