Dr Kit Sturgess graduated from Cambridge University in 1986 and then spent six years in general veterinary practice. He has further professional qualifications in imaging, cardiology and internal medicine as well as a PhD awarded for looking at the effects of FIV on mucosal immune function.

He has been an RCVS Fellow since 2016. As well as being a specialist in Small Animal Medicine, Kit is also an Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Cardiology.

He remains an active clinician undertaking 50% of his time in clinics seeing referrals in both a general practice and referral centre environment.

The remainder of his time is currently spent as Treasurer of RCVS and in his charity roles as well as writing, teaching and examining in the UK and abroad.

Kit has received further training in mentoring, chairing and facilitation as well as governance. He has published two books and numerous articles and research abstracts.
