About the webinar

RCVS Mind Matters invites everyone within the veterinary community to join this free research webinar, which focusses on innovative technology designed to address suicide risk relating to access to means, and the evidence behind it. The webinar will cover how risk could be mitigated or minimised, feature insights into applying for research funding, and offer an opportunity for discussion and reflection.

Since 1 April 2026, the Core Standards of the Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) require all accredited practices to implement a practice-specific suicide prevention plan which includes assessing potential risks within the practice setting and establishing measures to address and mitigate each identified risk. With the introduction of the new requirement, both the RCVS Mind Matters and PSS teams are working closely together to ensure that veterinary practices have access to resources, research and insights to support them meet the new requirement.

About EuthaSafe

As part of a public health approach to suicide prevention, and in line with the new British Standard on suicide and the workplace (BS30480), appropriate measures that address and mitigate key risks, such as access to lethal means, should be considered as part of the overall approach.

Veterinary professionals face ongoing challenges in ensuring the safe handling of controlled drugs. Traditional methods for storing and transporting these substances are often inconsistent and can expose practices to risk. EuthaSafe is a portable, app-controlled solution for safe drug handling, developed to bring safety and control to every stage of the process.

EuthaSafe is supported by the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), via a grant from Research England, as a part of the 'Vetsafe Box Secure Control of Medicines in the Field' project.

Please note this is a research webinar and does not constitute endorsement of the EuthaSafe product by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
