RCVS Academy
The RCVS Academy, our free online learning platform, features three MMI mental health courses:
- Civility fundamentals – provides examples of what civility and incivility look like, and offers practical tools and insights to help the veterinary team build a culture of respect and understanding.
- Managing mental health in the workplace - explores how to recognise when mental health challenges might occur, and how to respond to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
- Suicide awareness fundamentals - is designed to provide veterinary professionals with an understanding of suicide, enabling them to feel more confident and prepared to respond to suicide-related situations with sensitivity and care.

Who is the course for?
The MHFA training course is open to all members of the veterinary community, as well as those in wider animal health and welfare roles.
This course is ideal for individuals who would like to become an MHFAider®, to gain the skills to spot signs of people experiencing poor mental health, be confident to start a conversation and signpost a person to appropriate support.
Held live online and delivered by an experienced vet and Mental Health First Aid England instructor, the training requires full participation in group discussions and activities in order to complete the course and receive certification.
