Amending your registration category for vets

Changing your registration category and status

If your circumstances have changed and you need to change your registration category, you will need to notify the Registration Department by completing and returning the appropriate declaration form (see the 'Related documents' box).

Depending on the registration category you’re changing to, you may need to pay an additional fee or be entitled to a credit for the registration fee you have already paid. Please visit our fees page to check. If you are unsure, please contact the Registration Department on 020 7202 0707 or registration@rcvs.org.uk.

Changing to ‘Practising outside the UK’

If you are currently listed as a ‘UK-practising’ member and you are leaving the UK and would like your registration category to be changed to that of ‘Practising outside the UK’, you will need to complete and return the ‘Practising Outside the UK Declaration Form’ (see the 'Related documents' box).

Changing to ‘UK-practising’

If you are currently listed as a ‘Practising outside the UK’ or a ‘Non-practising’ member and you are returning to practise in the United Kingdom, you will need to change your registration category to ‘UK-practising’ member before you are eligible to practise veterinary surgery by completing the ‘UK-Practising Declaration Form’ (see the 'Related documents' box).

Please note you may also be required to provide a letter of good standing before you can change your category to ‘UK-practising’, if you have been listed as 'Practising outside the UK' for more than 12 months. For more information please contact the Registration Department on 020 7202 0707 or registration@rcvs.org.uk.

Changing to ‘Non-practising’

If you are not carrying out any veterinary-related activity in the UK or overseas and would like to change your registration category to ‘Non-practising’ then please complete and return a ‘Non-Practising Declaration Form’ (see the 'Related documents' box).
