RCVS Veterinary Nurses Council comprises 16 members: eight elected veterinary nurses, four veterinary surgeon members, (including two from RCVS Council), and four lay members.
Each elected VN member is appointed for a four-year term of office. Two members retire each year, but may stand for re-election if they wish.
Nominations for new VN Council members are sought each year between November and January from within the veterinary nursing profession.
The annual elections are held between March and May, in which registered veterinary nurses may vote online, by text message or by post.
The election results are published in early May and the successful candidates begin their terms of office at the RCVS Annual General Meeting, held in July each year.
The RCVS VN Council Election is run by Electoral Reform Services – the country’s leading provider of ballot advisory and management services to UK and worldwide organisations.
