Penny Howe


RCVS Preliminary Investigation Committee Member, Penny HowePenny was born and grew up in Edinburgh. She studied Law at Queens’ College, Cambridge and was called to the Bar in 1991. She completed a part time postgraduate LLM at King’s College, London in 1998. She was appointed a QC in 2017.

Penny is a member of Inner Temple and practises from Pump Court Chambers in London. In the early part of her career, she undertook a broad mix of civil and criminal work before specialising in family law and, in particular, cases that concern child protection and adoption.

Penny appears regularly in the High Court, Family Court and Court of Appeal and represents parents, local authorities and children in proceedings in which allegations have been made of serious child abuse, including murder or grievous bodily harm, or other ill treatment or neglect.

Penny is married, has two daughters aged 11 and 9 and a beloved dog. She lives in Wimbledon. She loves to run and to ski, and spends as much time as possible in Scotland, where she enjoys walking in the Highlands.
