Mrs Claire Hobson RVN

Biography

Claire Hobson, VN PIC Committee memberClaire Hobson began her VN journey as a student at the PDSA in Leeds, where she earned her veterinary nursing qualification in 2004. From there, she worked in general practice for a short period before moving on to orthopaedic referral practice. It was during Claire's eight years in referral practice that she became a qualified canine hydrotherapist. At this time, Claire became involved in delivering and presenting CPD, while also working with placement students and this was when she ultimately realised a move into education would be her next step.

Claire made the switch to VN education in 2014 as a lecturer and assessor in veterinary nursing. Claire was named the Head of Veterinary Studies in 2020 at the education centres in Leeds & Wigan College of Animal Welfare.

Claire is an OSCE examiner and mentor on the RCVS Edward Jenner leadership programme. Claire’s primary interests include surgical nursing and veterinary nursing education, with a particular focus on practicals and their assessments, leadership, and customer relationships (nurse/client tutor/student interface).

Claire is a mum to two boys and many cats! Claire would like to develop life juggling skills but secretly prefers a hectic, busy lifestyle.
