Dr Arun Midha
Biography
Arun studied at a number of universities (Swansea, Oxford and Cardiff) and began his working career with Lloyds Bank and then took up the role of Commerce and Industry Advisor with the Health Promotion Authority for Wales. Arun joined the University of Wales College of Medicine and eventually became Director of Strategy in the Wales Deanery, focusing on junior doctor and dentist training in Wales.
In recent years Arun has built a portfolio of non-executive and lay member roles in the fields of regulation, professional conduct, standards and governance. He has been a member of the General Medical Council and served as its Treasurer. He is currently a lay member on the Select Committee on Standards, House of Commons, Chair of retrospective continuing healthcare reviews in NHS Wales and NHS England, a lay member of the General Pharmaceutical Council and a member of Qualifications Wales.
Arun has served as a Justice of the Peace and was also High Sheriff of South Glamorgan. He is a Governor of a Welsh-medium secondary school and an Assessor of the Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Further and Higher Education.
He is an active supporter of the charity Save the Children and has supported Street Child United for some years. He is a season ticket holder with Swansea City FC.
