Mr John Anderson MBE
Biography
John Anderson MBE was brought up in Northern Ireland and after graduating from Trinity College of Music London, qualified as a teacher at London University Institute of Education. After some 15 years teaching, he returned to study, graduating in Law from Edinburgh University in 1992.
In 2012 John retired as Head of Fitness to Teach with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) and is now a lay panellist with a number of regulatory bodies, including IFA, CIPFA and the Faculty of Advocates (Scottish Bar).
He is also currently the Chair of the Disciplinary Committee of the Farriers Registration Council, a member of the Discipline Board of ICAS and the Investigating Committee of the General Medical Council. From 2005-2010 John served on the Cabinet Office UK Honours Education Committee.
From 2013 – 2021, John served as an appointee of Scottish Ministers on the Board of Children’s Hearings Scotland.
John lives in Edinburgh in the fine company of his two Devon Rex cats, Edward and Elliot, and is also an organist of Duddingston Kirk.
