Prof Alistair Barr FRCVS


Alistair Barr, member of RCVS DC Committee

Alistair graduated from Cambridge University in 1982. After a spell in mixed practice in Norfolk he moved to the University of Bristol Veterinary School where he is currently Professor of Veterinary Surgery.

An RCVS Diplomate in Radiology and Equine Orthopaedics, he is also a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and a Large Animal Associate Member of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging.

He is a Past-President of the British Equine Veterinary Association and the Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations and has served on the Councils of the RCVS and BVA.

Alistair holds the post of Director of Equine Veterinary Journal Limited and is an Assistant Editor of Equine Veterinary Education.

Alistair obtained an LLB from the Open University in 2009 and was called to the bar in 2012. His major clinical interests are in orthopaedics and imaging.

Outside veterinary work Alistair plays cricket and attempts to play the guitar.
