Toby Birch graduated from Glasgow University Veterinary School in 2004.

He started his veterinary career in mixed practice in the Midlands. Here he developed an interest in veterinary emergency and critical care and moved to work for an independent emergency service provider.

After three and a half years working nights he returned to day practice and now works for a small animal practice in East Sussex.

He is still passionate about veterinary emergency and critical care and aims to further first opinion emergency and critical care during normal working hours.

He has been involved with the British Association of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care for the last three years and has been their Practice Standards Group representative since late 2011.
