Since qualifying Samantha has worked in mixed and small animal practice in the UK and has been involved in veterinary nurse training. During sabbatical leave she worked for a Sun Bear rescue and rehabilitation charity in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, which included a large dog and cat colony with the occasional primate thrown in for good measure.
Samantha has a background in competitive dog obedience training, showing dogs, dog breeding and has dabbled in the word of showing cats. She has a special interest in hand rearing premature and sick neonates and has written a book on the subject. Samantha is currently collating data on canine neonate mortality and morbidity in the UK.
After starting a family Samantha decided upon a change of career path more suited to family life. She applied to become a PSS Assessor in order to apply her practical experience to help mentor practices through the new scheme and to help them achieve the new awards.
She lives in Lincolnshire with her husband and young son. When she is not engaged in locum work, local authority inspections, study or writing she enjoys walking in the surrounding countryside, horse riding and music.
