Mary qualified in 1980 from the University of Liverpool and, after a short time in various practices, joined her husband in the small animal practice he opened in his home town of Leyland, near Preston, in 1978.
The practice changed and developed greatly over the years and in 2003, having outgrown their building, it moved to a new purpose-built site with better parking.
In 2015 Mary sold the practice and now locums for various practices around doing assessments.
Mary has been a PSS assessor since 2007 and has found it extremely interesting and worthwhile to be involved and see the Scheme become such a success. She is looking forward to being one of the assessors under the new scheme and seeing it change and develop.
Without exception, practices that she visits have a positive view of the Scheme and are proud that their practices are involved. She feels that the new Scheme will engender even more pride in the practices involved.
When not working, Mary can generally be found enjoying time with her family, walking her dog, or working in the garden.
