Sophie Dicks (Practice Standards Officer)
What’s your background?
I joined the RCVS in September 2011 as Administration Assistant to the Registration Department, and was delighted to join the Practice Standards team in February 2012.
What do you do?
My role is to provide administrative support, and to ensure the efficient running of the Practice Standards Scheme.
If a practice considering joining the Scheme rings to ask questions, it’s often me on the other end of the phone – or email.
I also correspond with practices that are due for their inspections and, if necessary, send over their conditions letters or write to request additional evidence after the inspector has made his or her report.
What’s been your biggest challenge?
Juggling the administration for multiple practices at different stages of the inspection process can be a challenge! But it’s been great to learn about the veterinary profession from the practices, inspectors and Practice Standards Group members that I work with.
There’s always plenty of variety, and it’s been good to get to know the practices in the Scheme, too.
I’ve recently taken up ballroom dancing!
