The new Professional Development Record (PDR) is a free online CPD recording tool for vets and veterinary nurses.
It enables you to plan, record and evaluate your CPD, and includes many features that don’t exist with the paper CPD Record Card, such as the ability to upload files and documents and to add notes.
It also gives an automatic tally of the CPD you have carried out over the last three years, turning from red to green when you’ve hit the RCVS target.
There are is also a planning tool, where objectives and targets can be set, to help ensure the practice CPD budget is well spent.
The vet version sits alongside an updated Professional Development Phase, and will soon be joined by a Student Experience Log for undergraduates.
The summary page of the PDR can be emailed as a ‘snapshot’ to a third party – which could include your PSS inspector, or a line manager, if it’s appraisal time.
Feedback from users has been very positive, so please encourage your staff to sign up – and if you are a vet or VN yourself, why not set a good example!
