Places now available at popular course for overseas graduates

A popular two-day course aimed at helping veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses who have graduated abroad prepare for practice life in the UK will be taking place at our offices in September.

The course is organised by us, British Veterinary Association (BVA) and Veterinary Defence Society (VDS) and will take place at Belgravia House in Westminster on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 September 2016.

The course provides overseas graduates who are either working in the UK, or thinking of working in the UK, with the key information and skills needed to practise here, as well as helping them to understand their legal duties as veterinary professionals. Its overall aim is to reduce the risk of concerns being raised and to provide training in communication skills and is open to both veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses.

The first day of the course (Thursday 8 September) is free and covers a number of topics such as what it means to be a veterinary professional in the UK, tips from an overseas vet, the types of support available, developing skills and knowledge, and how to secure a dream job.

The second day is a ‘masterclass in communications skills’ provided by the VDS in a popular role-play format with professional actors and costing £160. Veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses are welcome to attend either or both days.
