New complaints system on the way

Following recommendations arising from the First Rate Regulator initiative in 2013, which sought the views of members of the profession and the public, we will be introducing a simpler and more efficient complaints procedure from July 2014.

Some 333 veterinary surgeons were removed from the Register for non-payment of their annual renewal fees.

Postgraduate postnominals decision overturned

At its 5 June 2014 meeting, Council agreed to overturn a decision made in June 2012, when it opted to remove all postgraduate postnominals from our Register of Veterinary Surgeons, and look again at which qualifications should be included.

Council agrees new emphasis for 24-7 guidance

We will soon place a greater emphasis on owners’ legal responsibilities for their animals, as well as an obligation on veterinary surgeons to provide more information to clients about their out-of-hours emergency service.

RVN Disciplinary Committee suspends Kent-based vet nurse

The Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN) Disciplinary Committee has this week suspended a Kent-based veterinary nurse from the Register after she admitted dishonestly creating four prescriptions, one of which was then fraudulently presented to a pharmacy.
